Indore Development Authority Proposes Rs 900 Crore Budget for 2026-27 Financial Year

The Indore Development Authority (IDA) is set to present a budget of approximately Rs 900 crore for the 2026-27 financial year during its upcoming board meeting next week. This budget will emphasize realistic project execution and addressing long-pending infrastructure needs, as confirmed by officials.

Major Projects: Startup Park and Convention Centre

A key highlight of the budget proposal is the inclusion of two landmark projects: a Startup Park and a state-of-the-art Convention Centre, both planned near the Super Corridor. Each project is estimated to cost over Rs 1,000 crore and will be developed under a public-private partnership model. These initiatives aim to boost the city's economic growth and global profile.

The proposed Startup Park near the Super Corridor is designed to create a plug-and-play ecosystem for technology startups and MSMEs. It will feature:

  • High-tech office spaces and incubation centres
  • Co-working zones tailored for emerging businesses
  • Attraction of venture capital firms and accelerators to mentor local founders

Strategically located near the airport and major arterial roads, the park is expected to serve as an anchor for Indore's burgeoning IT sector, generating thousands of high-value jobs for the youth of the Malwa region.

Convention Centre: Global Stage for the Cleanest City

The multi-purpose Convention Centre proposed near the Super Corridor will be equipped to host global summits, trade fairs, and large-scale corporate events. Its features include:

  • Expansive exhibition halls and soundproof seminar rooms
  • Advanced audio-visual technology for international standards
  • Potential to boost the local hospitality and service industry by attracting high-profile national and international delegates

Infrastructure and Development Focus

The budget allocates a significant portion to infrastructure development, with a major focus on the 9-km MR-12 road, a vital artery linking Bypass to Ujjain Road in preparation for Simhastha 2028. While 50% of the work is already completed, the remaining half involves the construction of a Railway Over Bridge and an additional bridge.

Additionally, the District Road Safety Committee is expected to task IDA with constructing several new bridges and flyovers to decongest critical city junctions, improving traffic flow and safety.

Digital Transformation and Green Initiatives

For the convenience of residents, the budget is expected to allocate funds to move all authority services online. This digital shift will allow people to access permits and documents from anywhere at any time, enhancing efficiency and transparency.

Significant allocations are also planned for:

  1. Road construction and electrification projects
  2. Underground utility services to modernize city infrastructure
  3. Horticulture and green belt development to promote environmental sustainability

"The focus is on completing ongoing schemes while initiating landmark projects that will define Indore's future economy," stated IDA CEO Parikshit Zade, underscoring the strategic vision behind the budget proposal.
