Pune: The North Mahalunge MIDC police on Tuesday arrested an IT analyst of a multinational food packaging firm in Chakan MIDC for stealing 23 laptops worth Rs 8 lakh from the company over the last two years.
Complaint and Investigation
The company's area manager lodged a complaint with the police on Monday. Police sub-inspector Jitendrasinh Pardeshi stated that company officials recently discovered a missing laptop from their storeroom. Upon checking CCTV footage, they observed the accused carrying a laptop bag while leaving the storeroom.
Further scrutiny of the footage revealed multiple entries by the accused into the storeroom, each time with a laptop bag. When confronted, the accused admitted to stealing 23 laptops over the past two years.
Arrest and Legal Action
Pardeshi confirmed that the accused was arrested under Section 306 (theft by clerk) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigations are ongoing.
