Karnal Unity Mall Takes Shape to Boost MSMEs Under ODOP Initiative
Karnal Unity Mall Construction Advances for MSME Boost

Karnal's Unity Mall, being constructed in Sector-37 along NH-44, is set to become a major commercial and cultural hub under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative of the Union government. The project, estimated at Rs 162.88 crore, is being developed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) and is expected to be completed by July 2027.

Project Scope and Progress

The mall spans 3.87 acres and construction began in July 2025 with a 24-month timeline. As of July 2026, about 15 percent of the work has been completed, and the HSIIDC official expressed confidence in finishing ahead of the deadline. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently reviewed the progress.

Khattar stated, "PM has announced the construction of 100 Unity Malls across the country. Haryana will have two such malls, one of which is coming up in Karnal. Every state will have dedicated stalls displaying its products, while Haryana's sections will showcase products from each of its districts under the ODOP initiative. People will be able to see, purchase, and use products from across the country at one place. The mall will become a symbol of unity while providing a major boost to local artisans and craftsmen."

The first floor will contain another 19 state showrooms, an additional ODOP exhibition hall, three ODOP showrooms, two restaurants, and two retail showrooms. Impact on Local Artisans and MSMEs

The Unity Mall is part of 100 such malls announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Union Budget 2023-24 to promote ODOP products and handicrafts nationwide. The initiative aims to create new market opportunities for local products and traditional artisans. By bringing together India's rich handicrafts and region-specific specialties under one roof, the mall is expected to strengthen indigenous industries, improve market access for local entrepreneurs, and encourage inter-state trade.
