Gandhinagar: The state government announced on Thursday that the Industrial Construction Skills Training Institute (ICSTI), established by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) at Vadnagar in Mehsana district, has commenced full-scale operations. The first batches of trainees have already been deployed across major infrastructure projects in the country after completing short-term, industry-oriented courses.
Training and Deployment
The industrial training institute has successfully completed training for two pilot batches, comprising a total of 201 trainees. According to an official statement, trainees who completed courses lasting 45, 60, and 90 days are now working on several high-profile projects. These include the semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor, the Ahmedabad Metro, a solar power project in Khambhalia, and the Panipat refinery project in Haryana. The deployed trainees are receiving stipends ranging from Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 per month.
Course Offerings
The institute currently offers training in more than 20 trades, covering construction, manufacturing, and emerging industrial sectors. This initiative aims to equip the workforce with relevant skills to meet the demands of the country's growing infrastructure and industrial landscape.
