A tragic industrial accident at a casting unit in Bommasandra Industrial Area in Bengaluru has resulted in the death of a 33-year-old machine operator. The incident has sparked allegations of negligence against the company's management.
Details of the Incident
According to a complaint lodged by supervisor Mukti Newar, the victim, Khemlal Newar Pradhan, was employed as a machine operator at Dimo Castings. Mukti, who is a relative of Khemlal, also worked for the same company. The incident occurred around 2pm when Khemlal was working near a die-casting machine. His head was crushed in the machine, leading to instant death, as stated in the complaint.
Allegations of Negligence
Mukti Newar alleged that Dimo Castings had failed to implement basic safety measures. The complaint asserted that there were no adequate precautions or safeguards in place while operating such dangerous machinery, holding the company officials responsible for the lapse. The lack of safety protocols has raised serious concerns about workplace conditions at the unit.
Legal Action Taken
The Hebbagodi police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 106, which pertains to causing death by negligence, and 289, which deals with negligent conduct with respect to machinery. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to examine the safety measures at the facility.
This incident highlights the critical need for stringent safety regulations in industrial workplaces to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
