Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Electric SUV Makes Brazilian Debut as Part of Global Rollout

Maruti Suzuki India has officially introduced the new Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara electric SUV to the Brazilian market, marking a significant step in the company's international expansion strategy. This launch follows the vehicle's debut in India, where it represents Maruti Suzuki's inaugural electric vehicle offering. The e-Vitara is manufactured at the company's Gujarat plant in India, which serves as a production hub for exports to over 100 countries worldwide.

Pricing and Availability Details in Brazil

The official pricing for the e-Vitara in Brazil has not been formally disclosed by Maruti Suzuki. However, industry sources indicate that the electric SUV is expected to be priced around R$ 269,990, which translates to approximately Rs 48 lakh ex-showroom based on current exchange rates. The vehicle is currently listed on the company's official Brazilian website, with the price section displaying "price upon request," suggesting a premium positioning in the market.

Global Expansion and Export Strategy

This Brazilian launch is a key component of Maruti Suzuki's broader plan to distribute the e-Vitara across more than 100 global markets. The electric SUV is already being exported to approximately 29 countries, including major markets such as Japan and several European nations like the United Kingdom. Looking ahead, the company plans to soon introduce the e-Vitara in additional South American markets, including Chile, Peru, and Colombia, alongside its Brazilian presence.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The Brazilian-spec e-Vitara is largely identical to the India-spec version, offered in a single top-of-the-line trim with a unified battery configuration. It is powered by a 61 kWh battery pack coupled with dual electric motors—one on each axle—enabling All Wheel Drive capability. The front motor generates 174 horsepower and 192 Nm of torque, while the rear motor produces 65 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque.

In terms of charging, the e-Vitara supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 45 minutes. For slower charging, a 7 kW AC charger can fully charge the vehicle from 10% to 100% in about 9 hours, providing flexibility for different usage scenarios.

Advanced Features and Safety Systems

The e-Vitara comes equipped with a host of modern features, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional amenities include cloud-based navigation, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 12 color options, and ventilated front seats for enhanced comfort.

Other notable features comprise wireless charging, a JBL sound system, automatic climate control, multiple USB ports, and an in-cabin air purifier. On the safety front, the model offers seven airbags as standard, along with ABS, EBD, ESP, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These ADAS functions include Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, ensuring a secure driving experience.

This launch underscores Maruti Suzuki's commitment to electrification and global market penetration, positioning the e-Vitara as a competitive player in the growing electric SUV segment.
