Mercedes-Benz V-Class Luxury MPV Makes a Grand Re-entry into the Indian Market

Mercedes-Benz India has officially announced the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class luxury MPV, marking its triumphant return to the Indian automotive scene after a hiatus of over three years. The MPV was withdrawn in 2022, and its comeback is set to reinvigorate the luxury segment with enhanced features and competitive pricing.

Pricing and Availability Details

The new V-Class is offered in two distinct variants: the 300 petrol and the 300d diesel, both priced at an introductory rate of Rs 1.4 crores (ex-showroom). Interested customers can secure their bookings either online or by visiting their nearest dealership. Deliveries are scheduled to commence by the end of March 2026, ensuring a timely arrival for eager buyers.

Manufacturing and Market Strategy

In a strategic move to bolster local production, the V-Class will be manufactured at Mercedes-Benz India's plant located in Chakan, Pune. This localization effort is expected to strengthen the brand's presence in the luxury segment, positioning the V-Class as a formidable competitor against established models such as the Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM, and MG M9.

Exterior and Interior Design Highlights

Design-wise, the V-Class boasts a clean, boxy profile with a sculpted bonnet that seamlessly integrates into a prominent U-shaped front grille. A strong shoulder line runs along the sides, while the rear features an upright design with a large glass area. Wheel designs and bumper styling vary across variants, adding a touch of customization.

Globally, the V-Class is available in two wheelbase options: Long at 3,200mm and Extra Long at 3,430mm. The Indian market exclusively receives the Extra Long variant, enhanced with the AMG line exterior package. Buyers can choose from five exterior color options and two interior color themes, allowing for personalized aesthetics.

Advanced Features and Comfort

The V-Class comes equipped with Airmatic air suspension featuring adaptive damping as standard, meticulously calibrated to suit local road conditions for a smoother ride. Inside, the cabin showcases a familiar Mercedes layout with twin 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and the instrument cluster. The interior is adorned with physical buttons, soft-touch surfaces, brushed accents, and neatly integrated controls, exuding a premium feel.

Additional features include multi-zone climate control, multi-color ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Nappa leather upholstery, and a Burmester sound system, ensuring a luxurious driving experience.

Seating Configurations and Powertrain Options

The V-Class offers two seating configurations to cater to diverse needs. For a chauffeur-focused layout, the four-seat version features two individual captain seats in the rear, complete with extendable leg support, ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Alternatively, a six-seat configuration adds two seats in the middle row, which can be arranged to face the rear seats or set in a conventional forward-facing position.

Under the hood, the V-Class is powered by two engine options. The 300d diesel variant houses a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine generating 237hp and 500Nm of torque, while the 300 petrol variant features a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine producing 231hp. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission for seamless performance.

Safety and Ratings

Safety is a paramount focus, with the V-Class equipped with seven airbags, a driver-monitoring system with a camera, ISOFIX anchors, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, and hill-start assist. It has also earned a prestigious 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, underscoring its commitment to passenger protection.
