MIDC Takes Action on Non-Operational Industrial Plots in Thane Region

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has initiated a significant enforcement drive by issuing show-cause notices to allottees of 134 industrial plots that have been found to be non-operational. This action targets plots located in the Ambernath, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, and Murbad talukas within the Thane-II region, highlighting a crackdown on underutilized industrial land.

Strict Deadlines and Potential Consequences for Allottees

According to Nitin Chavan, deputy collector and regional officer of MIDC, Thane-II, the notices require allottees to provide satisfactory responses and commence production within extended timelines. "In cases where responses are unsatisfactory or production is not commenced within the extended timeline, MIDC will proceed to resume possession of the plots as per regulations," Chavan stated. He further emphasized that such plots will be re-allotted to ensure optimal use of industrial infrastructure.

Officials have clarified that allottees are obligated to complete construction activities and initiate production operations within the stipulated deadlines. This move aims to boost industrial productivity and prevent land hoarding in key economic zones of Thane.

Regional Impact and Broader Implications

The affected talukas—Ambernath, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, and Murbad—are crucial industrial hubs in Maharashtra, and this enforcement could lead to increased economic activity and job creation if the plots are re-allocated efficiently. The MIDC's proactive stance underscores its commitment to enforcing regulatory compliance and fostering a dynamic industrial environment.

This development follows ongoing efforts by authorities to monitor and regulate industrial land usage, ensuring that allocated plots contribute actively to the state's economic growth. Stakeholders are advised to adhere to the guidelines to avoid legal repercussions and loss of allotment rights.
