MNGL Guarantees Uninterrupted PNG Supply to Pune Households Amid Global Energy Concerns

In a significant reassurance to residents of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, the Maharashtra National Gas Limited (MNGL) has firmly committed to maintaining an uninterrupted supply of piped natural gas (PNG) for domestic cooking needs. This assurance comes against a backdrop of global energy tensions, highlighting the company's focus on local stability.

Priority on Domestic Allocation and Robust Infrastructure

Sujit Ruikar, Vice-President of Marketing at MNGL, emphasized that residents can rest assured without facing any supply problems or shortages. He stated that the company is strictly adhering to Union government directives by prioritizing 100% natural gas allocation for domestic use. Officials confirmed that PNG supply has not been interrupted and is being adequately distributed among all users.

MNGL's extensive infrastructure supports over 8 lakh domestic connections and operates 125 CNG refilling stations across the Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation areas. The company receives its supply through the national grid, and officials have indicated that disruptions are unlikely due to this robust network. MNGL teams are actively monitoring the situation and implementing necessary measures to ensure seamless operations.

Expansion Plans for Restaurants and Eateries

Simultaneously, MNGL is exploring opportunities to extend piped gas services to restaurants and eateries, holding productive discussions with industry representatives. Saili Jahagirdar, Pune chapter head of the National Restaurants Association of India, reported a constructive meeting with MNGL on Friday.

"MNGL has expedited piped gas connections and permitted extensions from nearby existing lines, offering a helping hand to the restaurant community," Jahagirdar noted. Officials affirmed that necessary steps are being taken to facilitate this expansion.

Jahagirdar further explained that many restaurants recognize the advantages of switching to piped gas and have already signed up. In the long term, the unit economics prove more favorable, as piped gas is cheaper than LPG cylinders. MNGL has assured that several connections will be fast-tracked to assist restaurants in navigating current challenges, promoting a shift towards more cost-effective and reliable energy solutions.

This dual focus on securing domestic supply while fostering commercial growth underscores MNGL's commitment to enhancing energy accessibility and affordability in the region.
