MRPL Commemorates National Safety Day with Emphasis on Safety Culture
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) marked National Safety Day on Wednesday with a dedicated program at its training centre in Mangaluru. The event centered on this year's National Safety Day and Month theme, which is 'Engage, Educate and Empower People to Enhance Safety'. This initiative underscores the company's commitment to fostering a robust safety environment across all operational facets.
Leadership Emphasizes Safety as Top Priority
Presiding over the ceremony, Nandakumar V Pillai, the director (refinery) of MRPL, delivered a keynote address stressing that safety must be the foremost mission in all refinery operations. He articulated that every other operational aspect should follow this core principle. Pillai urged all employees to maintain heightened vigilance and rigorously adhere to established standard operating procedures to prevent any potential accidents or incidents.
In his remarks, Devendra Kumar, director (finance) and CFO, reinforced this message by stating that any decision aimed at ensuring safety will receive full support and defense from management. He emphasized that empowering personnel to prioritize safety as their primary motive is essential, and every possible step will be taken to achieve this goal.
Safety Pledge and Recognition Activities
As part of the celebrations, a safety pledge was administered to participants in three languages: Kannada, Hindi, and English. This multilingual approach ensured inclusivity and broad comprehension among the diverse workforce. Additionally, prizes were distributed to winners of various safety-related competitions and activities, recognizing their contributions to promoting safety awareness within the organization.
The event served as a platform to reinforce MRPL's dedication to creating a safe working environment, aligning with national safety objectives and enhancing overall operational integrity.
