Nashik Industrial Body Appeals to Maharashtra CM for Critical Road Infrastructure Funding

In a significant development for industrial infrastructure in Maharashtra, representatives from the Nashik Industries & Manufacturers' Association (NIMA) held a crucial meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday in Mumbai. The delegation urgently requested state government allocation of funds for the long-overdue upgrade of roads within the Ambad and Satpur industrial estates operated by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

Deteriorating Road Conditions Threaten Industrial Operations

The meeting occurred following the listing ceremony of Nashik Municipal Corporation's green municipal bonds at the National Stock Exchange. NIMA President Ashish Nahar and Vice-President Manish Rawal presented a compelling case to the Chief Minister, highlighting the severely deteriorated condition of MIDC roads that has persisted for approximately fifteen years without comprehensive re-laying. They emphasized how this infrastructure decay directly impedes industrial operations and transportation efficiency across both estates.

These industrial zones, falling under Nashik Municipal Corporation jurisdiction, collectively host more than 4,500 manufacturing units. Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri and Mayor Himgauri Aher participated in the discussions, underscoring the municipal administration's involvement in addressing this critical infrastructure challenge.

Concrete Proposal for White-Topping Project

According to Nahar, the industrial association has formally demanded that all major and internal roads within Ambad and Satpur MIDC undergo complete concretization through an ambitious white-topping project. The estimated financial requirement for this comprehensive infrastructure overhaul stands at nearly Rs 1,000 crore. Given the substantial scale of this undertaking, NIMA representatives stressed that state government assistance remains absolutely essential for successful execution.

"During our productive meeting in Mumbai, we specifically requested the Chief Minister to provide necessary funding to Nashik Municipal Corporation for implementing these vital upgrades," Nahar explained. He noted that CM Fadnavis responded promptly by instructing the mayor to prepare and submit a detailed proposal to the state government for further consideration.

Kumbh Mela Preparations Add Urgency to Infrastructure Needs

Vice-President Manish Rawal highlighted the particular urgency of road improvements in light of the forthcoming Kumbh Mela, a massive religious gathering that will place extraordinary demands on Nashik's transportation infrastructure. "When the entire city is undergoing extensive road upgrades in preparation for the Kumbh, the MIDC areas cannot afford to be neglected," Rawal asserted.

He further emphasized the economic significance of these industrial belts, describing them as "the economic lungs of Nashik" that contribute over 70% of Nashik Municipal Corporation's total revenue through Goods and Services Tax payments from industrial establishments. Enhanced infrastructure in these zones would not only facilitate logistics during the Kumbh Mela but also substantially strengthen Nashik's long-term industrial ecosystem and competitiveness.

Substantial Road Network Requires Immediate Attention

The Ambad and Satpur MIDC estates together encompass approximately 68 kilometers of internal and arterial roads that service the industrial complexes. Currently, white-topping projects have received sanction for only 8 kilometers of this network, leaving nearly 60 kilometers in desperate need of concrete surfacing and modernization.

Industry representatives have stressed that timely intervention from the state government remains crucial to ensure the remaining road stretches receive necessary upgrades before Kumbh Mela preparations reach their peak intensity. The comprehensive road improvement initiative represents a critical investment in Nashik's industrial future and regional economic vitality.
