In a significant move to boost industrial growth, the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has initiated plans to expand its land bank in the Indore region. The corporation will develop a new, fully-equipped industrial area at Mohana-1 in Indore district.
Project Scope and Infrastructure Details
The proposed industrial zone will span 27.30 hectares and is set to be developed with an estimated investment of Rs 22.20 crore. According to officials, the primary objective is to address the increasing demand for ready-to-use industrial plots from the manufacturing and allied sectors seeking to establish operations in and around Indore.
Himanshu Prajapati, the Executive Director of MPIDC for the Indore region, stated that the new development underscores the sustained interest from industries. "There is consistent demand from industries for ready industrial land in and around Indore," Prajapati said. "Mohana-1 will help strengthen the land bank and provide planned infrastructure to support new investments."
The project will feature essential industrial infrastructure to make the area investment-ready from the outset. Key amenities planned include:
- Internal road networks
- Comprehensive drainage systems
- Reliable water supply
- Robust power connectivity
Broader Expansion Across the Indore-Dhar Belt
The Mohana-1 project is not an isolated initiative. As part of a larger strategy to enhance industrial capacity in the Indore–Dhar industrial belt, MPIDC is simultaneously developing new industrial areas in several other locations.
These include sites in Tilgara, Bhosola, and Lalbagh Basvi in the neighbouring Dhar district. These upcoming zones are strategically intended to cater to small and medium-scale manufacturing enterprises, as well as ancillary industries that support existing industrial clusters in major hubs like Pithampur and Indore.
Driving Factors Behind the Industrial Demand
Industry stakeholders have pointed to several key factors fueling the demand for expanded industrial spaces around Indore. The region's appeal has grown significantly due to improved connectivity, the ready availability of skilled manpower, and rising interest from diverse sectors.
Notably, industries such as engineering, food processing, and logistics are showing heightened interest in establishing a base in this economically vibrant region of Madhya Pradesh. This planned expansion by MPIDC is a direct response to this market demand, aiming to provide the necessary physical infrastructure to facilitate future investments and job creation.
