Noida Power Infrastructure Expansion: Two New Substations to Enhance Electricity Supply
In a significant move to bolster power infrastructure, Noida is set to commence construction on two new 33/11 kV substations in sectors 151 and 155, located near the Noida Expressway. This development follows the recent announcement of nine additional substations under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), marking a comprehensive upgrade to the city's electrical grid.
Construction Timeline and Financial Details
Officials from the power department have confirmed that work on these substations is expected to kick off by the end of March, with a targeted completion date in August. The project is estimated to cost approximately Rs 20 crore, reflecting a substantial investment in Noida's urban infrastructure.
Key aspects of the tender process include:
- The deadline for tender submissions for the Sector 151 substation closed on March 17.
- Evaluation of tender documents is now underway, with verification expected to take about 10 days.
- Financial bids will be opened post-verification, ensuring transparency and competitive pricing.
An official stated, "The agency that submitted the lowest bid for the Sector 151 substation is currently under assessment for financial stability to ensure it meets the necessary criteria." This careful scrutiny aims to prevent delays and ensure quality execution.
Broader Infrastructure Upgrades Under RDSS
Beyond the two new substations, Noida's power enhancement plan includes nine additional 33/11 kV substations, as previously reported. Furthermore, 10 existing substations will undergo revamping with enhanced transformer capacity, and approximately 450 transformers across the city will be upgraded from 250 kVA to 400 kVA. All these initiatives are slated for completion within the current year, promising a more reliable and robust electricity network for residents and businesses.
This infrastructure push is part of the RDSS, a government scheme designed to improve distribution efficiency and reduce losses in the power sector. The upgrades are expected to alleviate load issues, especially in rapidly developing areas like those near the Noida Expressway, supporting economic growth and urban expansion.
