Odisha Pharma Policy 2025 Launch: CM Majhi Unveils Strategy

In a major move to boost its industrial landscape, Odisha is set to launch a dedicated policy for the pharmaceutical and medical devices sector. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will officially inaugurate the Odisha Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Policy 2025 at the Odisha Pharma Summit-2025 in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Policy Aims to Position Odisha as a Healthcare Manufacturing Hub

The high-profile summit marks a strategic push by the state government to establish Odisha as a competitive and attractive destination for life sciences manufacturing. The core objective of the new policy is to attract significant investments, enhance the ease of doing business, and generate large-scale employment opportunities within the pharmaceutical and medical devices sector.

The event will see the presence of key ministers, including Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling and Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, alongside the Chief Minister. This underscores the government's coordinated approach to developing this critical industry.

Infrastructure Boost: Two Dedicated Industrial Parks Announced

A cornerstone of the state's new strategy is a significant infrastructure commitment. As part of the policy rollout, the government will announce plans to establish two dedicated industrial parks. These will include a pharmaceutical park and a separate medical devices park, designed to provide world-class facilities and a clustered ecosystem for manufacturers.

This infrastructure development is expected to strengthen the entire healthcare manufacturing value chain within the state, making it more efficient and globally competitive.

MoU Signings and Industry Engagement

The Odisha Pharma Summit-2025 is not just a policy launch event; it is also a platform for tangible business progress. The summit will witness the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with several leading companies in the sector. These agreements are poised to be a milestone in building a robust and sustainable pharma and medical devices ecosystem in Odisha.

The programme includes an industry perspective session where senior leaders from the sector will share insights on business enablers, research, and Odisha's emerging role. The summit has attracted a wide array of participants, including industry leaders, healthcare experts, startups, and investors, all set to engage in meaningful discussions.

Ahead of the summit, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain extended a warm invitation to all pharma, medical devices, and related sector industries, investors, and thought leaders. "We are committed to building a strong, future-ready ecosystem that supports growth, innovation and global competitiveness," Swain stated. He emphasized the government's invitation to stakeholders to be part of this initiative aimed at shaping the future of healthcare manufacturing in Odisha.

The launch of the Odisha Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Policy 2025 represents a clear and focused vision by the state government to carve a niche in the high-growth life sciences industry, promising economic development and job creation for its people.
