Gas Companies Scramble for Skilled Workers
City gas distributor Avantika Gas Limited has identified a requirement for approximately 250 trained workers from mechanical trades including fitters, plumbers, and welders. This hiring surge comes as the administration accelerates PNG connections across both residential households and commercial establishments throughout the city.
The increased demand stems directly from restrictions on commercial gas cylinders, which have prompted numerous industries to transition toward PNG systems and seek faster connection approvals. In key industrial belts spanning Indore and Bhopal, approximately 200 industries have already submitted applications for new PNG connections, with industry organizations actively urging authorities to expedite the approval process.
ITI Students Secure Immediate Placements
Divisional ITI, Indore principal Reena Solanki confirmed the positive employment trend, stating, "About 80 students from mechanical trades have already been placed and another batch will be placed soon. Avantika has a requirement of around 250 students and we are encouraging candidates from other districts as well to apply. This is helping us secure placements for our students."
This employment push follows a collaborative initiative between district administration officials and industry representatives designed to align technical skill training with emerging job opportunities. A recent awareness and guidance program attracted participation from approximately 150 ITI students, who received detailed briefings about specific roles, field requirements, and long-term career prospects within the expanding gas sector.

Industry representatives have reported that obtaining PNG connections currently requires approximately three weeks, a timeline that continues to affect business operations. In response to these challenges, officials have confirmed that additional technical teams are being deployed specifically to accelerate the PNG connection process, which in turn further drives the demand for qualified manpower.
