A devastating incident unfolded in Prayagraj on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a labourer and injuries to a contractor. The accident occurred at an under-construction house located in the Daniyalpur area of Lalgopalganj, where both individuals became trapped under debris from a collapsing roof shuttering.

According to police reports, the tragedy struck during the casting of the roof. Suddenly, one of the scaffolding props supporting the shuttering snapped, causing the structure to give way. This led to the immediate entrapment of two persons working at the site: a labourer and a contractor, who were buried beneath the heavy debris.

In response to the emergency, police personnel, assisted by local residents, launched a swift rescue operation. They utilized a loader, commonly known as a JCB, to carefully remove the rubble and extricate the trapped individuals. Despite these efforts, the labourer succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
