Construction Launches for QUAD IT Township in Technopark Phase-IV
Thiruvananthapuram has witnessed the formal commencement of construction work for the QUAD project. This flagship integrated IT township is located within Technopark Phase-IV, also known as Technocity.
First Phase Features Major IT Building
The initial phase focuses on constructing an 8 lakh square foot IT building. Technopark will directly develop this facility. Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd (CCCL) has secured the construction contract.
Workers expect to complete this building within 36 months. Upon completion, the facility should generate approximately 26,000 direct jobs during its first phase. This development strengthens the city's reputation as a premier IT hub in southern India.
Transformative Vision for Technocity
A senior Technopark official commented on the project's significance. "The launch of construction at the QUAD site marks a transformative moment for Technocity," the official stated. "This project embodies our long-term vision of creating a live-work-play ecosystem. It will attract leading technology firms while producing high-quality employment for local and regional talent."
The QUAD project occupies 30 acres as a non-SEZ integrated micro-township. Plans include:
- Modern office spaces
- Commercial complexes
- Residential zones
This combination aims to foster a self-sustained environment for professionals and companies.
Gamechanger for Economic Landscape
Analysts anticipate the QUAD project will significantly alter Thiruvananthapuram's economic landscape. The development seeks to draw domestic and global IT/ITeS firms with superior infrastructure and connectivity.
The IT building will feature state-of-the-art workspaces and amenities designed to meet global standards. Sustainability principles and efficient building management systems will integrate into the structure. Earlier reports indicate the development pursues environmental credentials alongside extensive parking and service facilities.
Co-Developer Opportunities Expand
Alongside this construction, Technopark has extended the tender deadline for a second IT building. This structure will follow a co-developer model, with the new deadline set for February.
The expression of interest (EOI) issued for co-developers covers an additional IT tower and commercial complex within the QUAD campus. This approach offers substantial opportunities for private sector participation.
The campus strategy encourages developers to build and operate these assets. This model should unlock further employment potential and commercial activity.
The second IT building proposed for co-development could offer between 8 lakh and 13.5 lakh square feet of leasable space. A flexible floor area ratio (FAR) plan governs this structure. The commercial complex will provide a similar scale of office and retail areas.
Technopark Phase-IV Emerges as Tech Destination
Technopark Phase-IV is rapidly establishing itself as a key technology destination. Other major projects contributing to this diversified technology ecosystem include:
- TCS campus
- Digital Science Park
- Emerging Tech Hub
- Kerala Space Park
Together, these developments position Thiruvananthapuram as an increasingly important center for technology innovation and employment in India.
