Quest Global's Ingenium 2026 Wraps Up in Bengaluru, Highlighting Student Engineering Innovations
Quest Global, recognized as the world's largest independent pure-play engineering services company, has successfully concluded the 14th edition of its flagship engineering competition, Ingenium, in Bengaluru. The grand finale took place at Novotel, ORR, Bellandur, where top finalist teams presented their innovative solutions to a distinguished panel of judges. This event underscores Quest Global's ongoing commitment to nurturing engineering talent and fostering innovation across India.
Overwhelming Participation and Diverse Projects
The 14th edition of Ingenium attracted an impressive response, with 5,361 registrations and 3,714 teams representing 50 engineering colleges nationwide. The competition featured a wide array of projects spanning multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, computer science, and aerospace engineering. These projects often addressed critical real-world challenges in areas such as sustainability, healthcare, transportation, and automation, reflecting the ingenuity and technical depth of India's emerging engineering talent.
Winning Team and Prize Details
The winning team from Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology in Bengaluru captivated the jury with their project titled 'Sepsis AI: Edge-Based Early Sepsis Risk Prediction for Resource-Constrained Intensive Care Units'. This innovative solution is an edge-based early warning system designed to detect sepsis risk in ICU patients before critical deterioration occurs. By analyzing real-time vital signs from existing bedside monitors, the AI model identifies early physiological patterns and generates interpretable risk scores in advance. The system operates on a local hospital server, eliminating the need for high-end infrastructure. As the champions, the team received INR 2,00,000 in prize money and will gain valuable exposure through a visit to the offices of Drees and Sommer and other facilities in Germany.
Runner-Up Teams and Their Contributions
The first runner-up position was secured by a team from PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research in Tamil Nadu, with their project on a Low-Cost Edge AI Driver Fatigue and Collision Prevention System for Heavy Vehicles. Meanwhile, the second runner-up spot went to a team from New Horizon College of Engineering in Bengaluru, for their entry on a Deprescribing Clinical Decision Support System. These projects highlight the competition's emphasis on practical applications and prototype development, setting Ingenium apart from other engineering contests.
Mentorship and Industry Insights
Ingenium distinguishes itself by providing participants with mentorship from Quest Global engineers and insights into industry best practices. This support helps students strengthen their technical capabilities while developing critical skills such as teamwork, project management, and effective presentation. Over the years, Ingenium has played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between academia and industry, empowering young engineers to transform ideas into practical solutions.
Leadership Perspectives and Future Commitments
Lux Ramalingam, Chief Operating Officer at Quest Global, expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, "At Quest Global, we believe that empowering young engineers to think creatively and solve complex challenges is key to building a better future. Ingenium continues to provide a powerful platform where students can transform ideas into practical solutions while learning from industry experts. We are truly inspired by the level of innovation and passion demonstrated by participants this year and remain committed to nurturing the next generation of engineering leaders." The grand finale was attended by distinguished guests, including Veit Thurm, Partner & Managing Director, and Dr. Jens Cattarius, Associate Partner, both from Drees & Sommer, who served as chief guests.
