Renault Duster Hybrid Sells Out for 2026 Before Price Reveal
In a remarkable display of market enthusiasm, Renault India has witnessed the complete sell-out of its new Duster hybrid SUV for the entire 2026 allocation, even before announcing the official pricing for this electrified variant. This unprecedented demand underscores a significant shift in consumer preferences towards more sustainable automotive technologies in the Indian market.
Pre-Launch Frenzy and Booking Details
Renault recently launched the new Duster SUV at an introductory price of Rs 10.29 lakh (ex-showroom), with pre-bookings available both online and at dealerships. However, the hybrid version has generated exceptional interest, leading to the closure of bookings for deliveries scheduled in 2026. The company has confirmed that while details and pricing for the hybrid model will be revealed at a later stage, the current allocation is fully booked. Renault has not disclosed the exact number of units or total bookings, but bookings for hybrid models are expected to reopen around Diwali 2026.
This early sellout indicates robust demand for electrified powertrains, particularly in urban markets. Reports suggest that hybrid variants account for 39% of Duster bookings in metro cities, highlighting a growing trend towards fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles.
Powertrain Specifications and Expected Pricing
The new Duster is built on the CMF-B platform and offers three engine options. The hybrid variant is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine combined with a 1.4kWh battery and two electric motors. This setup delivers a combined output of 162bhp and 172Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The claimed fuel efficiency is likely to exceed 25 kmpl.
Pricing for the hybrid is anticipated to fall between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a premium offering in the segment. The other engine options include a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine generating 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual transmission.
