The IMT Udyog Welfare Association, Rohtak, has written to the Managing Director of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) flagging several long-pending issues affecting industrial operations, infrastructure, and governance at the Industrial Model Township (IMT) on Delhi Road. The association alleged a “lethargic” approach by authorities and demanded urgent action.
Power Overloading from Nearby Villages
Joginder Nandal, president of the association, stated that the electricity infrastructure developed exclusively for IMT is being extended to nearby villages, overloading the network. Kheri Sadh village has already been connected, and plans to extend supply to Baliyana village are underway. This has caused frequent power outages and operational disruptions for industrial units. The association urged that the IMT power infrastructure be reserved solely for industrial use to prevent the substation from operating at full capacity, which would adversely affect future connections and existing units' growing needs.
Missing Essential Infrastructure
The representation highlighted the absence of a fire station, a permanent ESI dispensary, labour housing complex, community centre, shopping centre, and institutional plots for banks and offices. Nandal emphasized that the lack of a fire station poses a serious safety risk, and the temporary ESI dispensary at Kharawar village is too far for workers. He demanded a permanent ESI dispensary within IMT and expedited construction of the proposed ESI hospital.
Administrative Apathy and Corruption Allegations
Nandal alleged that despite land being allotted, the HSIIDC office has not been established at the earmarked site, forcing officials to operate from a makeshift office. A shortage of clerical staff delays processing of official work. The association also alleged corrupt practices leading to inflated billing, poor-quality development works, and lack of transparency in contract allocation. It demanded an independent audit of all maintenance funds and development works over the past three years, mandatory association involvement in planning, certification of projects before payment release, transparent quality checks, and a retrospective quality audit.
Illegal Sand Removal
Nandal further alleged that sand is being illegally removed from vacant plots allotted for industrial purposes without plot holders' consent. The issue has been brought to authorities' notice, and a proper investigation is sought.
Authorities' Response
When contacted, HSIIDC Estate Officer Lalit Jora said the issues pertained to the engineering wing. Rajeev Dagar, in-charge of the engineering wing, did not respond to phone calls or text messages seeking comments.
