Southern Railway Chennai Division Surpasses Parcel Revenue Target
Southern Railway Chennai Parcel Revenue Exceeds Target

Chennai: Southern Railway's Chennai division has surpassed its parcel revenue target of Rs 74.22 crore for 2025-26, earning a record Rs 74.56 crore and reinforcing its position as one of Indian Railways' leading freight and logistics hubs.

Officials attributed the growth to innovative freight initiatives, improved infrastructure and a sharp increase in demand-driven parcel services. The division transported 1,288 tonnes of tyres from Korukkupet and Tambaram to destinations across the country. It also partnered with the Central Warehousing Corporation to run a Parcel Cargo Express Train carrying branded tyres to Okhla.

To support future growth, Southern Railway has commissioned new parcel offices at Chengalpet and Jolarpet, while additional parcel terminals have been proposed at Royapuram, Tada and Mundiyampakkam.
