A severe storm swept through the Alwar district on Thursday evening, causing significant damage to a toll plaza on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The canopy of an exit booth was ripped off and blown nearly 150 feet away by the strong winds.

Incident Details

The incident occurred around 7 pm at the toll booth near Sheetal Cut. The canopy, along with its iron framework, was torn off and fell near an exit lane of the expressway. Traffic movement was affected for nearly an hour as officials responded to the damage.

Impact on Traffic

While traffic on the main carriageway remained unaffected, minor disruption was reported on the exit lane. Toll operations were partially affected for about an hour. Two toll booths were subsequently made operational, restoring traffic flow.

Safety Measures

Toll worker Sunil Kumar stated that the canopy of the exit toll booth was blown away during the storm. He added that power supply to the structure was cut off to avoid any electrical hazard. No injuries were reported.

Restoration Efforts

Officials quickly responded to the damage, and within an hour, two toll booths were operational again, allowing traffic to resume normal flow. Further assessments are underway to ensure the structural integrity of the toll plaza.
