Sumeet Industries Announces Major Acquisition to Enhance Polyester Chips Manufacturing

Sumeet Industries Limited, a prominent integrated polyester manufacturer listed on the NSE and BSE, has made a strategic move to bolster its production capabilities. The company has been declared the successful bidder for acquiring assets from Nakoda Limited under a corporate insolvency resolution process.

Details of the Acquisition

The Board of Directors unanimously approved a Letter of Intent dated March 11, 2026, confirming the acquisition through a slump sale. This transaction involves the Phase-3 Chips Manufacturing Plant of Nakoda Limited, based in Surat, Gujarat. The acquired assets include land and building spanning approximately 11,534 square meters, along with the complete plant and machinery.

The total consideration for this acquisition is approximately ₹23.47 crore, granting Sumeet Industries 100% control over the assets. The deal is subject to necessary regulatory approvals and is expected to be finalized within 180 days from the signing of the Letter of Intent on March 17, 2026.

Capacity Expansion and Strategic Benefits

This acquisition will significantly enhance Sumeet Industries' production scale:

  • Incremental capacity addition: Approximately 400 tons per day of Polyester Chips.
  • Annual equivalent: Roughly 146,000 tons per year, assuming 365 operating days.
  • Utilization: The Polyester Chips will be used in spinning units to manufacture Partially Oriented Yarn (POY) and Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY).

The strategic rationale behind this move includes expanding Polyester Chips manufacturing capacity in alignment with existing business operations. Acquiring assets in the same manufacturing line supports operational scale-up, and the proximity to Sumeet Industries' current plant enables better operational alignment and efficiency.

Management Commentary

Mr. Pratik R. Jaju, Managing Director of Sumeet Industries Limited, commented on the development: "This acquisition strengthens our presence in the polyester value chain and expands our Polyester Chips manufacturing capacity. The addition of this facility enhances our production scale and supports better integration with our downstream yarn business, including POY and FDY."

He added, "Given the proximity of the acquired plant to our existing operations, we expect improved operational alignment and efficiency as we scale up capacity. This also provides us with greater flexibility in managing production and supporting future growth requirements across our polyester portfolio."

This acquisition marks a key step in Sumeet Industries' growth strategy, positioning the company to meet increasing demand in the textile industry while optimizing its manufacturing processes.
