Kochi gears up for a festive shopping extravaganza as the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) launches its grand Christmas-New Year district fair. The event was officially inaugurated by State Industries Minister P Rajeeve at the Marine Drive helipad ground on Monday afternoon.
Festive Discounts and Special Offers Galore
The fair, which will run until the first of January, is not limited to a single venue. In Ernakulam district, numerous Supplyco outlets will transform into festive markets. These include supermarkets, hypermarkets, and People's Bazaar stores located in Tripunithura Layam, Aluva, Gandhinagar, Chullikkal, Muvattupuzha, Piravom, Kothamangalam, North Paravur, and Perumbavoor.
Shoppers can look forward to significant savings on over 280 products from major brands. Discounts on branded daily essentials will range from a modest 5% to a substantial 50%. In a major relief for households, the highly subsidized 20-kg rice bag, priced at just Rs 25, will also be available for purchase at these fairs.
Exclusive Bundles and Incentive Schemes
Supplyco has rolled out several attractive schemes to enhance the festive spirit. Customers who buy non-subsidized items worth more than Rs 500 will receive an add-on benefit: one kilogram of Sabari salt for just one rupee.
A highlight of the sale is the specially curated 'Santa Offer' kit. Priced at Rs 667, this bundle of 12 essential festive items will be sold for only Rs 500. The kit includes popular products like cake, sugar, tea, payasam mix, Sabari appam powder, and a selection of spices.
Fuel Coupons and Event Highlights
In a unique cross-promotion, Supplyco is also rewarding customers at its petrol pumps. Two-wheeler and autorickshaw drivers refuelling for Rs 250, and other vehicle owners refuelling for over Rs 1,000, will receive special Christmas coupons. These coupons entitle the bearer to a Rs 50 discount on purchasing subsidized items worth Rs 1,000 at Supplyco outlets.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by T J Vinod, the local MLA. Hibi Eden, Member of Parliament, had the honor of conducting the first sale of the fair. Supplyco's Managing Director, V S Jayakrishnan, was also present at the function, marking the significance of this annual public-centric event.
