In a landmark event for the Indian automotive sector, Tata Motors has officially resurrected one of its most legendary nameplates, the Sierra. The 2025 Tata Sierra SUV made its grand debut today, marking the modern-day comeback of an icon originally discontinued back in 2003.
A Bold New Design and Premium Cabin
The new Sierra boldly steps away from its early-2000s predecessor with a thoroughly contemporary and assertive design. The exterior is characterized by a full-width LED light bar, a textured grille, and low-set LED headlamps. The vehicle's profile pays homage to its heritage with a reinterpretation of the signature Alpine windows, achieved through blacked-out B- and C-pillars. Other standout design elements include a contrasting roof, flush door handles, and prominent 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the Sierra presents a sophisticated black-and-grey theme. The most striking feature is the triple-screen setup, which comprises an all-digital instrument cluster and two infotainment displays capable of sharing functions. The SUV borrows the new four-spoke steering wheel from the Curvv, complete with an illuminated Tata logo and touch controls.
Loaded with Features and Powertrain Options
Tata Motors has equipped the new Sierra with a host of premium features to compete fiercely in its segment. The cabin is expected to offer dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, rear sunshades, and a 360-degree camera for enhanced safety and convenience. Furthermore, the SUV boasts Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), an electronic parking brake, and ventilated, powered front seats.
Buyers will have a choice of six vibrant colour options: Coorg Clouds, Pristine White, Pure Grey, Bengal Rouge, Munnar Mist, and Andaman Adventure. The official pricing and the complete details of the engine options and variants were the final pieces of the puzzle revealed at the launch event.
Entering a Competitive Arena
The new Tata Sierra enters the intensely competitive mid-size SUV space in India. It is poised to lock horns with a long list of established rivals. The segment is currently led by the Hyundai Creta, and the Sierra will also compete directly with the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Mahindra Thar Roxx, and the Honda Elevate.
