Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has revealed ambitious plans for the Indian market. The company will introduce three new electric car models in India by 2026. This move signals a significant expansion of their operations in the country.
New Models and Network Expansion
VinFast India CEO Tapan Ghosh confirmed the company's strategy. "We will begin with launching a seven-seater MPV," Ghosh stated. He added that additional models will follow after the initial launch. Each new vehicle will target different market segments and customer needs.
The company plans a substantial increase in its physical presence across India. VinFast will nearly double its number of showrooms from 35 in 2025 to 75 in 2026. This expansion will focus on Tier-3 and Tier-4 cities while also increasing dealership density in high-volume urban centers.
Beyond Passenger Vehicles
VinFast is exploring opportunities beyond passenger cars. The company is evaluating entry into additional electric vehicle segments. These include electric buses and two-wheelers for the Indian market.
To support these new products, VinFast will expand its manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The company is also working with local partners to install charging points at HPCL fuel stations across the country.
Addressing EV Concerns
VinFast recognizes common concerns among potential electric vehicle buyers. The company plans to address issues like range anxiety, charging habits, battery life, and resale value through multiple approaches.
These include enhanced dealer engagement programs, comprehensive test-drive opportunities, content partnerships with media platforms, and direct customer interaction initiatives. "Our goal is simple: Remove uncertainty in EV ownership," explained Ghosh. "When customers feel properly informed, confidence naturally follows. That confidence ultimately drives adoption of electric vehicles."
The Vietnamese automaker's announcement comes as India's electric vehicle market continues to grow. With these planned launches and network expansion, VinFast aims to establish a stronger foothold in one of the world's largest automotive markets.
