Yadadri Thermal Unit 3 Commissioned in Telangana

The third unit of the Yadadri thermal power station (YTPS) was successfully commissioned on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for power generation in Telangana. The Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TG Genco) is establishing the thermal power plant with a total installed capacity of 4,000 MW, comprising five units of 800 MW each. The plant is located at Veerlapalem Village in Damaracherla Mandal, Nalgonda district.

Project Structure and Commissioning Details

The project is divided into two stages: Stage-I consists of two units of 800 MW each, while Stage-II includes three units of 800 MW each. The third unit, which is part of Stage-II, underwent a rigorous 72-hour continuous operation trial. During this period, it generated an average power of 811.99 MW, exceeding its rated capacity of 800 MW, according to TG Genco officials.

Supervision and Acknowledgments

The operation was closely supervised by officials from the Telangana State Transmission Corporation (Transco) and TG Genco Chairman and Managing Director S Harish. The CMD extended his congratulations to the teams from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and TG Genco for their collaborative efforts in achieving this milestone. The successful commissioning of the third unit is expected to bolster the region's power supply and contribute to the state's energy security.
