YEIDA Grants In-Principle Approval for Major Industrial Projects in Noida
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has taken a significant step towards bolstering industrial growth in the region by issuing letters of intent (LoIs) to four companies on Thursday. These projects, spanning integrated packaging, hyperscale data infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and apparel exports, represent a combined proposed investment of approximately Rs 1,220 crore. Crucially, they hold the potential to generate employment for over 7,000 people, marking a substantial boost to the local economy.
Officials have clarified that these letters serve as in-principle approvals and do not constitute final land allotments. The actual allotment process and execution of lease deeds are pending state government approval, ensuring all regulatory steps are meticulously followed before project commencement.
Major Investments and Employment Opportunities Unveiled
The largest among these initiatives is led by GNIPL, a subsidiary of the Singapore-headquartered multinational group USEL. GNIPL has received an LoI for 50 acres in Sector 8D under Master Plan 2041 to establish an integrated packaging hub with a proposed investment of Rs 750 crore. This project, dubbed the 'Universal Packaging Hub,' aims to create a multi-project integrated packaging campus catering to fast-growing domestic and export markets in sectors such as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and industrial applications. It is expected to employ over 6,000 people, making it a cornerstone of YEIDA's employment strategy.
Officials highlighted that the hub's proximity to the upcoming Noida International Airport will provide robust multimodal connectivity and access to evolving logistics infrastructure. This strategic location is anticipated to enhance its competitiveness as a regional distribution and manufacturing centre, leveraging GNIPL's expertise as part of USEL, which is engaged in diverse fields including industrial parks, data centres, and mega township development.
Diverse Sectors Targeted for Growth
In the digital infrastructure domain, BK Sales Corporation has announced plans to set up a hyperscale data centre along the Yamuna Expressway. This project, with a total investment of around Rs 400 crore, will be developed in two phases on a 5-acre plot. It involves constructing two advanced data centre buildings with a planned capacity of approximately 7,000 server racks, targeting commercial operations within 18 months of land transfer.
The facility will cater to enterprises, government bodies, and digital businesses, with a particular focus on high-density digital operations and the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence segment. Upon full commissioning, it is expected to employ around 100 skilled professionals. To promote sustainability, the project will incorporate renewable energy solutions, advanced cooling technologies, and energy-efficient power systems to reduce electricity consumption and carbon emissions.
Adding to the manufacturing prowess, Italy-based Simplast Group will invest Rs 70 crore, including 50% foreign direct investment (FDI), to establish a manufacturing facility on a 3-acre plot in the YEIDA area. This unit will specialize in producing advanced plastic and rotational moulding products for the automobile industry, bringing international expertise to the region.
Furthermore, Noida-based Sahu Exports has received an LoI for the allotment of 2.5 acres in Sector 29 to expand its apparel manufacturing operations. The proposed facility will house advanced lacework and embroidery units equipped with modern machinery, aimed at enhancing production capacity and fostering design innovation. This expansion is projected to create around 1,000 direct jobs, contributing significantly to the local apparel sector.
Strategic Vision for Regional Development
YEIDA CEO RK Singh emphasized that these projects underscore the Authority's strategic vision to develop a world-class industrial ecosystem along the Yamuna Expressway. "This initiative positions the region as a major hub for packaging, digital infrastructure, manufacturing, and global investment in north India," he stated. By attracting diverse investments, YEIDA aims to catalyze economic growth, create substantial employment opportunities, and enhance the region's industrial competitiveness on a global scale.
