EPFO Guide: 3 Easy Ways to Check Your PF Balance & Claim Status
EPFO Guide: Check PF Balance & Claim Status Easily

For millions of Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) subscribers in India, managing their retirement savings has become significantly more accessible. The EPFO has established multiple, user-friendly channels allowing members to effortlessly check their Provident Fund balance and monitor the status of their claims, ensuring transparency and control over their financial future.

Checking Your EPFO Claim Status Online

The primary method for tracking your EPF claim is through the official EPFO portal. The process is designed to be straightforward. First, you need to navigate to the EPFO India website. On the homepage, locate the 'Services' tab on the blue ribbon at the top. From the dropdown menu that appears, select the option labeled 'For Employees'.

Once you are on the employee-centric page, look for the 'Know Your Claim Status' service under the 'Services' section. Clicking on this will redirect you to a new login window. Here, you must enter your Universal Account Number (UAN), your password, and the captcha code displayed on the screen. After successful authentication, you will be logged into your account dashboard, where the current status of your claim will be prominently displayed.

Using the UMANG App for EPFO Services

For those who prefer managing their accounts on the go, the UMANG app is a powerful tool. The first step is to download the UMANG application on your smartphone and log in using your registered mobile number. Inside the app, use the search function to find 'EPFO' and then select 'Employee Centric Services'.

From the list of available services, tap on 'Track Claim'. You will be prompted to enter your UAN number. After inputting your UAN, click on 'Get OTP'. An One-Time Password will be sent to your mobile number linked with the UAN. Enter this OTP to log in securely. Upon successful login, the app will present you with all the detailed information regarding your claim, allowing for real-time tracking.

Checking PF Balance via SMS Service

EPFO also provides a remarkably simple SMS-based service for members to check their balance and latest contributions. This method is especially useful for those without immediate internet access. The crucial requirement is that the SMS must be sent from your mobile number that is registered with your UAN.

To use this service, you need to compose a new text message. The text of the message should be: 'EPFOHO UAN'. This message must be sent to the mobile number: 77382 99899. You will shortly receive a reply with your PF details. A significant advantage of this service is its linguistic inclusivity; it is available not just in English and Hindi, but also in several regional languages including Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Bengali.

By leveraging these three methods—the official website, the UMANG app, and the SMS service—EPFO subscribers across India can now stay effortlessly updated on their provident fund accounts, ensuring they are always informed about their hard-earned savings.
