Gorakhpur: Marking International Workers' Day, the state government will organise a mass wedding ceremony for 200 daughters of labourers across Gorakhpur division on May 1. The event will be held at Champa Devi Park from 11 am, with Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar and several public representatives attending.

The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on economically weaker worker families. Beneficiaries will come from four districts: Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Deoria, and Kushinagar. The programme falls under the state-run Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana of the UP Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

Financial Details

Officials said the government will spend Rs 1 lakh per couple for the ceremony. Of this, Rs 85,000 will be directly transferred to each couple's bank account, while Rs 15,000 per couple will be used to meet event expenses. The labour department is making elaborate arrangements for the event.
