Ludhiana: Continuing its ongoing crackdown on unauthorised real estate developments, the building branch of the Ludhiana municipal corporation demolished two under-construction illegal colonies in areas falling under MC Zone B on Tuesday. The operations took place in Sukhdev Nagar and near Trikona Park, located behind Onkar Vihar.
Details of the Demolition Drive
Assistant town planner (ATP - Zone B) Nirwan stated that the developers had defiantly continued with the unauthorised construction activities despite multiple warnings issued to them by the civic body in the past. This persistent violation ultimately necessitated the demolition action. The civic body has been actively monitoring unauthorised constructions and taking strict measures to curb such illegal activities within the city limits.
Public Advisory Issued
Following the crackdown, the ATP issued a public advisory appealing to residents to avoid falling prey to fraudulent developers. He urged prospective buyers to thoroughly verify the legal status of any colony before investing. Residents can easily check property records by visiting the civic body’s respective zonal offices. The advisory emphasizes the importance of due diligence to prevent financial losses and legal complications.
Legal Requirements for Construction
Reinforcing the legal requirements, civic officials emphasised that residents must only commence construction work after securing approval for their building plans from the municipal corporation. The approval process ensures that constructions comply with city bylaws and safety standards. The civic body warned that strict legal and physical action will continue to be taken against any unauthorised constructions found operating within the city limits. This includes further demolitions and legal proceedings against violators.
The municipal corporation remains committed to ensuring planned and lawful development in Ludhiana. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious construction activities to the concerned zonal office. The crackdown is part of a broader effort to regulate the real estate sector and protect citizens from unscrupulous developers.
