Mangaluru: Water supply will be disrupted for 24 hours in several parts of Mangaluru city from 6am on Monday to 6am on Tuesday due to maintenance work by the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC).
According to the MCC, the shutdown is required to replace a Non-Return Valve (NRV) on the 1,100-mm-diameter main pipeline that carries water from the Thumbe LLPS-2 80 MLD pumping station to the city.
During the period, water supply will be completely suspended in the following areas: Padil, Maroli, Kankanady, Mangaladevi, Jeppu, Falnir, Mulihithlu, Bolar, Car Street, Mannagudda, Pandeshwar, State Bank, Shaktinagar, Kannur, Bajal, Jappinamogaru, Alape, Attavar, Ulhasnagar, Chilimbi, Kodikal, Urwa Store, Ashoknagar, Kudupu, Vamanjoor, Bondel, Kavoor and parts of Marakada.
Residents in these areas are advised to store adequate water in advance to meet their needs during the 24-hour disruption. The MCC has assured that water supply will resume as scheduled after the maintenance work is completed.
