Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station to Get Rooftop Restaurants & Markets in 25-Year Plan
Namo Bharat Station in Ghaziabad to house rooftop restaurants

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform the Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station into a vibrant commercial hub. The initiative aims to significantly boost non-fare revenue by developing a wide array of commuter-centric facilities, including rooftop restaurants, cafes, and retail markets, right within the station premises.

Massive Commercial Space Up for Grabs

In a significant move, the NCRTC has invited bids through a tender process for licensing property development areas at the station for commercial use. An official stated that approximately 18,578 square metres of space will be offered on a licence basis against a fixed rent. The licence period for these commercial spaces has been set at a substantial 25 years, indicating a long-term commitment to this development model.

The commercial spaces will be spread across key locations within the station complex. This includes the PD area on the ground floor, upper and lower floors, and core-A floors. Specifically, 4,229 square metres are available on the ground floor, 11,914 square metres on upper level 1 and level 2, and 2,435 square metres in the core-A floors.

Transforming a Transit Hub into a Lifestyle Destination

The envisioned facilities go beyond basic conveniences. The plan allows for the development of rooftop and fine-dining restaurants, cafes, food outlets, hotels, showrooms, banquet halls, pharmacies, medical and wellness centres, and outlets showcasing regional products. "These facilities will enable commuters as well as local residents to access shopping, dining and other modern amenities at a single, integrated location within the station," explained an NCRTC official.

The corporation believes this integrated approach will save time for users and ensure a safer, more comfortable, and pleasant travel experience. Officials emphasized that with multi-modal connectivity and growing ridership, the station is poised not just as a transit point but as an emerging lifestyle and commercial destination.

Strategic Location Drives Commercial Potential

The Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station's commercial potential is bolstered by its strategic location in a densely populated urban area. Its proximity to the city's main bus terminal guarantees high daily footfall. The station is also surrounded by prominent residential areas like Patel Nagar, Raj Nagar, Arya Nagar, and Kavi Nagar, along with numerous commercial establishments, educational institutions, and major market areas.

"Through this initiative, NCRTC aims to promote commercial activities within station areas and strengthen non-fare revenue streams," the official added. This move is part of a broader strategy to leverage prime real estate around transit corridors, creating sustainable revenue models while enhancing passenger experience and serving the local community.
