Kanpur Widows Receive Land Plots Seven Years After Pulwama Attack Promise
In a long-awaited development, two widows from Kanpur have finally received registered land plots, seven years after a real estate firm pledged support to the families of soldiers killed in the Pulwama terror attack. The registration was completed on Tuesday, bringing a measure of relief to the grieving families.
Fulfillment of a Solemn Commitment
Directors of Triyam Realtech, based in Dayanand Vihar, Indiranagar, Kalyanpur, officially registered 100-square-yard plots for the families of two martyred soldiers. The beneficiaries are the families of Pradeep Singh Yadav from Kalyanpur, Kanpur, and Shyam Babu from Raigaon in Derapur tehsil of Kanpur Dehat.
The gift deeds were formally registered in court for Yadav's wife, Neeraj Yadav, and Shyam Babu's wife, Ruby Devi. The legal process was facilitated through advocate Dinesh Shukla, who is the brother of company director Pankaj Shukla.
Background of the Pulwama Tragedy
The Pulwama attack, a devastating terrorist incident, occurred on February 14, 2019, in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the lives of several soldiers. Among the fallen heroes from the region were:
- Pradeep Singh Yadav
- Shyam Babu
- Ajit Kumar Gautam, also known as Azad, from Purwa in Unnao
In the aftermath of the attack, officials from Triyam Realtech visited the homes of these three martyrs and announced a supportive gesture: each family would receive 100 square yards of land.
Emotional Responses from the Widows
Following the registration, both widows expressed a mix of relief and emotion. They noted that the company's follow-through on its commitment was a rare and appreciated gesture.
Neeraj Yadav shared her poignant story: her husband departed Kanpur for Jammu on February 10, 2019, arrived the next day, and was tragically killed in the attack on February 14. She learned of his death through television reports and a call from Army officers. Since then, she has been raising their three children alone: two daughters aged 17 and 8, and a six-year-old son.
Ruby Devi recounted her last conversation with her husband on February 14, with the heartbreaking news later delivered by family members after Army officers arrived. She is now caring for her two sons, aged 11 and 7.
Pending Plot for Third Family
Company director Pankaj Shukla confirmed that the third plot, intended for the family of Ajit Kumar Gautam, will be provided in Unnao. The gift deed for this plot is expected to be registered there soon, completing the firm's original promise to all three families.
This act of corporate social responsibility highlights the enduring impact of the Pulwama attack on local communities and the importance of honoring commitments to those who have sacrificed everything for the nation.
