Rajasthan Housing Board Takes Strong Action Against Illegal Encroachment in Jaipur

In a decisive move to protect public property, the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB) conducted a major anti-encroachment drive in Jaipur on Friday. Officials demolished illegal constructions spread across approximately 7,000 square metres of prime commercial land in Indira Gandhi Nagar, Sector-1.

High-Value Property Reclaimed

According to RHB officials, the encroached land had been acquired by the Board and was designated for commercial use. A recent survey revealed that the current market value of this property exceeds Rs 70 crore, highlighting the significance of the reclaimed asset.

"We have conducted a survey to determine that the present value of this property is over Rs 70 crore," stated an official involved in the operation.

Two Months of Illegal Activity Halted

The illegal construction had been ongoing at the site for the past two months before the RHB, with police support, took action. The demolition operation was carried out swiftly to prevent further unauthorized development.

Gopal Singh, Secretary of the Rajasthan Housing Board, emphasized the Board's zero-tolerance policy towards such violations. "Any kind of illegal construction or encroachment on land acquired by the RHB is unacceptable. Protecting the Board's valuable public property is our primary responsibility," he stated.

Future Enforcement Measures

Singh further warned that strict and prompt action would be taken against any future encroachments. "In the future, if any illegal encroachment is found anywhere, strict and prompt action will be taken in accordance with the rules," he affirmed.

To strengthen its enforcement capabilities, the RHB has already submitted a proposal to the finance department. The proposal aims to establish a dedicated enforcement wing for the Board, similar to those operated by:

  • The Jaipur Development Authority
  • The Jaipur Municipal Corporation
  • Other civic bodies under the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Department

This initiative is expected to enhance the Board's ability to monitor and act against illegal activities on its properties across Rajasthan.
