Mohali's Sunny Enclave Residents Protest as Water Crisis Worsens
Sunny Enclave water crisis: Residents protest, SDM assures action

The residents of Sunny Enclave in Mohali's Sector 125 are facing immense hardship as a severe and persistent drinking water crisis continues to disrupt their daily lives. With irregular and severely low supply, normal household functioning has been brought to a standstill, prompting urgent action from the community.

Peaceful Protest Meets Developer's Silence

On Saturday, December 7, 2025, a large group of frustrated residents gathered at the office of Bajwa Developers, the entity they hold responsible, demanding an immediate resolution. The protest, which included RWA leaders and many women from the community, was met with a complete lack of engagement. No official from the developer came forward to address the crowd, offer clarification, or even acknowledge their grievances. Residents alleged that the office lights were switched off and not a single representative stepped out, which only served to heighten public anger.

The delegation was led by RWA president Harbans Singh Sidhu, general secretary Onkardeep Singh Toor, and legal advisor Antar Singh Brar. They stated that despite raising repeated complaints over several months, the developer has consistently failed to address the critical issue, severely impacting daily routines. Families, especially those with senior citizens and children, are bearing the brunt of the worsening situation.

Escalation to District Administration

Following the developer's refusal to communicate, the residents collectively marched to the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). There, they submitted a formal written complaint against Bajwa Developers, detailing the ongoing crisis and the developer's inaction. The SDM assured the aggrieved residents that the issue of water supply would be taken up on a priority basis and that necessary action would follow. This assurance came as a slight relief to the protesters, who have been struggling with the scarcity for an extended period.

Residents Issue Ultimatum for Action

The community has urgently called for the district administration's immediate intervention. They warn that if a prompt and permanent solution is not provided, they will be forced to escalate their peaceful protest further. The situation in Sunny Enclave highlights a critical failure in essential civic service delivery, leaving hundreds of families in distress and searching for reliable answers to a fundamental need.
