Vadodara District Administration Allocates Land for New Government Office Complex
The Vadodara district administration has taken a significant step toward addressing the city's growing governmental infrastructure needs by earmarking approximately 10,000 square meters of land for a new multi-storey government office complex in the Gorwa area. This strategic move aims to accommodate the increasing demand for office space across various departments, ensuring efficient public service delivery.
Background and Safety Considerations
This initiative follows a comprehensive safety audit conducted in the aftermath of last year's Gambhira bridge tragedy. The audit prompted extensive renovation work at two major government complexes—Kuber Bhavan and Narmada Bhavan. During these essential repairs, several offices operating from these buildings were temporarily relocated, highlighting the pressing need for additional and modern office facilities.
Land Allocation Details
District Collector Anil Dhameliya has officially allotted land from two specific survey numbers in Subhanpura to the state Roads and Buildings (R&B) department for this ambitious project. The designated plot includes survey numbers 108-A and 111-A in Gorwa, strategically chosen to support the city's administrative expansion.
Officials have emphasized that the new complex is being planned specifically to meet the escalating space requirements of government departments in Vadodara. The revenue department has already completed the handover of land possession to the Vadodara city R&B office, which will now proceed with initiating all necessary construction procedures.
Current Government Office Infrastructure
At present, most government offices in Vadodara operate from three primary multi-storey complexes:
- Kuber Bhavan in Kothi: Houses offices such as the registrar, treasury, planning, and women and child welfare departments.
- Narmada Bhavan: Accommodates the mamlatdar office, Jan Seva Kendra, district industries centre, cooperation department, labour commissioner's office, and irrigation department.
- Police Bhavan: Hosts several police units along with other government departments.
The new Gorwa complex is expected to alleviate congestion in these existing facilities, providing a modern, spacious environment for enhanced administrative operations. This development marks a proactive approach by the Vadodara district administration to bolster urban infrastructure and streamline governmental functions for the benefit of citizens and officials alike.
