IIT-BHU's I-DAPT Hub Foundation Invests Rs40 Lakh in Agri-Tech Startup eVerseAI for Rural Tech Transformation

In a major boost for technology-driven rural development, Varanasi-based agri-tech and climate-tech startup eVerseAI has secured financial and institutional support of approximately Rs40 lakh from the I-DAPT Hub Foundation of the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University). This funding initiative is part of the Government of India's National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, which is being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology.

Strengthening Innovation Ecosystems in Agriculture

The primary objective of this support is to fortify innovation ecosystems and accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies in agriculture and related sectors, with a particular focus on the eastern regions of Uttar Pradesh. Districts such as Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, and Jaunpur, which rely heavily on dairy farming as a cornerstone of their rural economy, stand to benefit significantly from this initiative.

In these areas, milk production serves as a crucial supplementary income source for small and marginal farmers, making technological interventions vital for enhancing productivity and sustainability.

Institutional Mentorship and National Backing

Professor R S Singh, Director of the I-DAPT Hub Foundation, emphasized the transformative potential of this collaboration. "With institutional mentorship, backing from the national mission, and strategic industry partnerships, eVerseAI is emerging as a pioneering model for technology-enabled dairy transformation in eastern Uttar Pradesh," he stated.

This support package not only provides financial resources but also includes guidance and networking opportunities to help the startup scale its impact and integrate cutting-edge solutions into traditional farming practices.

Broader Implications for Rural Economy

The investment in eVerseAI underscores a growing trend towards leveraging technology to address challenges in agriculture, such as climate change adaptation and economic viability. By focusing on dairy farming—a sector that supports countless livelihoods in rural India—this initiative aims to:

  • Enhance milk production efficiency through smart technologies.
  • Improve income stability for smallholder farmers.
  • Foster sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

As eVerseAI progresses with this backing, it is poised to set a benchmark for how startups can drive meaningful change in India's agrarian landscape, aligning with national goals for rural empowerment and technological innovation.
