Kerala Launches EVolve: A Six-Month Deep-Tech Incubation Program for Electric Mobility

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has announced a strategic partnership with the Trivandrum Engineering Science & Technology (TrEST) Research Park. Together, they are launching a six-month deep-tech incubation program. This initiative specifically targets early-stage innovators and startups operating within the electric mobility ecosystem.

Program Aims to Nurture EV Innovators

The program is called EVolve – EV Innovation Cohort. Its primary goal is to nurture innovators and startup founders who are working across the entire electric vehicle (EV) value chain. According to a statement from KSUM, EVolve will cover a broad spectrum of electric mobility areas.

This includes:

  • Vehicle design and engineering
  • Battery and energy storage technologies
  • Power electronics and control systems
  • Charging infrastructure development
  • Software, connectivity, and smart solutions
  • Circular economy innovations for sustainability

Comprehensive Support for Selected Startups

The six-month program is structured to provide extensive support to participants. Selected startups will embark on a focused incubation journey designed to enhance their product readiness and ensure better market alignment.

Key support mechanisms include:

  1. Technical validation of concepts and prototypes
  2. Domain-specific mentorship from industry experts
  3. Industry linkages for partnerships and collaboration
  4. Access to a robust innovation ecosystem with research facilities

The program will culminate in a demo day. On this day, participating startups will present their developed solutions to a distinguished audience. This audience will include industry leaders, potential investors, and key stakeholders from the ecosystem.

Catalyzing Sustainable Mobility Innovations

EVolve represents a powerful synergy between two major institutions. It combines KSUM's established startup enablement framework with TrEST Research Park's expertise in deep-tech research and its strong industry-academia interface.

This collaboration aims to catalyze high-impact innovations. The program seeks to contribute meaningfully to the development of sustainable mobility solutions. It also aims to strengthen India's rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape by supporting homegrown technological advancements.
