Kerala Launches 'Thirike' Campaign to Woo Back Professionals

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is rolling out an ambitious new initiative. This campaign, named 'Thirike', aims to create fresh job opportunities and lure skilled talent back to Kerala. It specifically targets both IT and non-IT professionals currently working outside the state who desire to return for better career prospects.

Building a Talent Bridge with a Digital Database

KSUM strongly believes that Kerala's improved living conditions and supportive investment climate can act as powerful magnets. To make this homecoming easier, the mission will compile a comprehensive database of interested professionals. This will be done through a dedicated digital survey.

Companies and entrepreneurs within Kerala who are searching for top-tier talent will gain direct access to this pool. They can select suitable candidates, significantly simplifying and speeding up their recruitment processes. Furthermore, the database will provide updates on job openings from companies that are relocating their operations to Kerala.

CEO Highlights Growth and Opportunity

Anoop Ambika, the CEO of the startup mission, explained the rationale behind the campaign. He noted that many technical professionals from Kerala originally migrated to other Indian states or went abroad in pursuit of better opportunities.

"Unofficial estimates indicate that about 20% of India's 50 lakh IT professionals are Malayalis," Ambika stated. "The 'Thirike' campaign is for those who now wish to return, considering the enhanced living standards and growing job market here."

He emphasized that Kerala's established startup ecosystem now presents genuine growth avenues for professionals. "We are positioned for substantial expansion, which has the potential to generate thousands of new job opportunities," Ambika added confidently.

Database Access for Committed Investors

The database created under this campaign will serve as a valuable resource. An international company setting up operations in Kerala could tap into this reservoir of experienced and skilled professionals. Ambika clarified that this sensitive database will be shared exclusively with companies that demonstrate a serious willingness to invest in the state.

Global Capability Centres as Major Job Engines

A significant portion of these new opportunities is expected to come from Global Capability Centres (GCCs). These are centres where multinational corporations can find the specialized talent they need. The groundwork is already strong. More than 40 leading companies have already established their GCCs in Kerala. Several other global firms are reportedly in the planning stages to follow this successful example.

The 'Thirike' campaign represents a strategic push by Kerala to reverse the brain drain. It connects returning professionals with a revitalized local economy hungry for their skills.
