Punjab Chief Minister Inaugurates First State Startup Conclave
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the state's first startup conclave on Monday. The event took place at Lovely Professional University in Kapurthala. Mann declared the state government's full commitment to supporting startups. He emphasized that funds are readily available for promoting budding entrepreneurs.
Focus on Job Creation and Economic Growth
Mann highlighted the crucial role startups play in job creation and economic growth. He stated that innovation, hard work, and entrepreneurship are central to Punjab's economic future. The chief minister urged young entrepreneurs to adopt the mantra "Update and Create." He aims to transform Punjab's youth from job seekers into job creators.
Conclave Brings Together Key Stakeholders
The Department of Industries and Commerce organized the conclave. It brought together startups, investors, incubators, industry leaders, academicians, and policymakers. The event showcased Punjab's expanding startup ecosystem. Over 100 startups participated in the conclave.
Financial Support and Incentives Disbursed
The government disbursed seed grants and incentives to encourage new ventures. Seven startups received seed grants of Rs 3 lakh each. One startup was provided Rs 1.20 lakh as lease rental assistance. Mann mentioned that over 15 incubators and several support organizations from Punjab showcased their initiatives.
Encouragement for Diverse Sectors
Startups working in agriculture, health, education, and administration are being actively encouraged. The Industrial and Business Development Policy 2022 provides a transparent and robust framework for entrepreneurs. Special focus is being given to women-led startups and first-generation entrepreneurs.
Vision for Global Success
Mann referred to his recent visit to Japan. He noted that nations progress with a clear vision for the future. He urged Punjab's youth to adopt a forward-looking and hardworking mindset to succeed globally. The conclave aims to serve as a platform to showcase Punjab's innovation potential.
Fostering Collaboration and Positioning Punjab
The event will foster collaboration among stakeholders. It helps position Punjab as a preferred destination for startups. Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, Lok Sabha MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal, and other dignitaries attended the occasion.
