Holiday Rush: Over 3 Lakh Passengers Travel from Ahmedabad Division Ahead of Holi
Ahead of the vibrant festival of Holi, the Ahmedabad division of Western Railway witnessed a massive surge in passenger traffic, with approximately 3 lakh travellers embarking from key stations over a three-day period starting February 27. Railway officials confirmed this significant footfall, highlighting the festive season's impact on rail travel in the region.
Special Trains and Passenger Statistics
To accommodate the heightened demand, Western Railway operated special trains from multiple stations, including Ahmedabad, Sabarmati, Asarwa, Gandhidham, and Bhuj, for three consecutive days beginning February 27. Detailed data revealed the breakdown of passenger boardings: 1.55 lakh from Ahmedabad, 70,000 from Sabarmati, 30,000 each from Asarva and Gandhidham, and 15,500 from Bhuj.
Anticipating this influx, the railway authorities announced 308 trips of special trains, connecting passengers to popular destinations such as Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Danapur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Bhagat Ki Kothi (Jodhpur), Haridwar, Raxaul, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Delhi.
