Adityapur Railway Station Set for Major Upgrade as Satellite Hub
In a significant development for rail infrastructure in the region, the South-Eastern Railway (SER) has announced plans to transform Adityapur railway station into a satellite station, with several long-distance trains scheduled to originate from there soon. This initiative was confirmed by SER General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra during a review visit to Adityapur on Tuesday.
Infrastructure Enhancements and Passenger Amenities
During his visit, Mishra directed divisional officials to kickstart the construction of a foot overbridge, elevator, and ramp at the station to improve accessibility and safety for all passengers. He emphasized the need to extend the station's facilities to accommodate longer rakes, ensuring it can handle the increased traffic from long-distance services. All five platforms at Adityapur will be equipped with comprehensive passenger amenities, making travel more comfortable and efficient.
Decongestion Strategy for Tatanagar Station
This move is part of a broader strategy to decongest Tatanagar railway station, which is currently undergoing redevelopment as an "A-Plus" category station with world-class amenities. By shifting several long-distance trains to Adityapur, the South-Eastern Railway aims to reduce overcrowding at Tatanagar and distribute rail traffic more evenly across the region, enhancing overall service quality.
Special Services and Additional Projects
In a bid to support vulnerable passengers, Mishra announced the launch of a battery-operated vehicle service at Adityapur. This service will specifically assist physically challenged individuals, senior citizens, pregnant women, and sick people, ensuring they have easy access to station facilities. Additionally, a third railway line between Adityapur and Asanboni, passing through Tatanagar, is slated for completion by May, further boosting connectivity and operational efficiency in the area.
