Haryana Chief Minister Advocates for Enhanced Partnership with Canada
In a significant move to foster international cooperation, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday highlighted the growing collaboration with Canada as a key opportunity for the state's progress. During an interaction with a delegation from the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce at his official residence, Sant Kabir Kutir in Chandigarh, Saini underscored the importance of building partnerships based on knowledge, innovation, and technology in today's global economy.
Focus on AI and Smart Governance
The Chief Minister pointed out that Haryana is actively promoting digital and AI-based solutions to enhance governance transparency and efficiency. He noted that Canada stands as a global leader in this field, making collaboration in areas such as smart governance, data-driven decision-making, healthcare optimization, and AI applications in agriculture highly beneficial. Such partnerships could significantly improve public service delivery and governance models in Haryana, he added.
Education and Skill Development Initiatives
Saini emphasized the critical role of education and skill development in making Haryana's youth globally competitive. He praised Canada's internationally recognized systems of applied learning, polytechnic education, and simulation-based training. Potential collaborations in joint degree pathways, skill development programs, experiential learning, and industry-integrated curricula were highlighted as avenues to create new opportunities for young people.
Agriculture and Agri-Tech Collaboration
Referring to the agricultural sector, the Chief Minister identified several areas for cooperation with Canada:
- Precision farming techniques
- Post-harvest management solutions
- Food processing advancements
- Cold-chain infrastructure development
These initiatives aim to boost both productivity and income for farmers in Haryana, Saini explained.
Start-ups and Innovation Ecosystem
The Chief Minister also discussed the promising potential for collaboration in start-ups, innovation, and technology entrepreneurship. Haryana is steadily transitioning towards an innovation-driven economy, and partnerships with Canada's renowned tech start-up ecosystem could complement these efforts. Areas such as incubation support, research collaboration, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship programs were cited as key to opening new avenues for youth and entrepreneurs from both regions.
Tourism and Hospitality Sector
Saini highlighted the vast potential in the tourism and hospitality sector, noting Canada's rich experience in tourism management and high-quality hospitality standards. This presents another area for mutual growth and exchange, he said.
The delegation extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to visit Canada to further promote collaboration and strengthen the India-Canada partnership. The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta and Principal Secretary of the Foreign Cooperation Department Amneet P Kumar.
