Belagavi-Mumbai Air Connectivity Set for Major Enhancement
Air connectivity between Belagavi and the Mumbai metropolitan region is poised for a substantial improvement, with both IndiGo and Star Air announcing the launch of daily services on this crucial route from the end of March. This development marks a significant step forward in enhancing regional air travel options and economic integration.
Star Air Resumes Operations with Daily Morning Flights
Star Air has confirmed plans to resume its Belagavi–Mumbai operations starting March 26. This move comes nearly two months after the airline suspended the service on December 25, 2025, which had left the city without direct connectivity to India's financial capital. The airline will operate a daily morning departure from Belagavi at 7:20 AM, arriving in Mumbai at 8:25 AM. The return flight will depart Mumbai at 7:45 PM and reach Belagavi at 8:50 PM. Bookings for this service are now officially open, allowing passengers to secure their seats in advance.
IndiGo Launches New Direct Service to Navi Mumbai
Following Star Air's announcement, IndiGo has also revealed its plans to launch a new direct service between Belagavi and Navi Mumbai from March 29. The flight will depart Navi Mumbai at 10:20 AM and arrive in Belagavi at 11:35 AM. The return leg will leave Belagavi at 5:35 PM and land in Navi Mumbai at 6:45 PM. IndiGo had earlier indicated its intention to introduce this route, citing sustained efforts by local industrial bodies and public representatives who advocated for improved air connectivity to support regional development.
Dual Flight Options to Benefit Passengers and Economy
With both airlines operating daily flights, passengers from Belagavi and North Karnataka will now have two reliable flight options to access the Mumbai metropolitan region from late March onward. This restoration and expansion of services are expected to provide significant benefits to various groups, including business travelers, medical patients, students, and professionals. Mumbai serves as a major hub for trade, healthcare, education, and onward domestic and international connections, making enhanced air links crucial for regional growth.
Industry Representatives Welcome the Development
Industry representatives have warmly welcomed this development, describing it as a major boost to regional connectivity and economic growth. The increased flight frequency and options are anticipated to stimulate business activities, facilitate easier travel for medical and educational purposes, and strengthen economic ties between Belagavi and Mumbai. This move aligns with broader efforts to improve infrastructure and transportation networks in India, supporting both local and national economic objectives.
In summary, the simultaneous announcements from IndiGo and Star Air herald a new era of improved air connectivity for Belagavi, offering passengers enhanced travel flexibility and contributing to the region's socio-economic advancement.
