Indore Airport Adds Goa, Hyderabad Flights, Goes 24/7 for Summer

Indore Airport Prepares for Busy Summer Season with Major Upgrades and Expanded Flight Network

Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore is undergoing a significant transformation ahead of the high-intensity summer travel season. With critical infrastructure work nearing completion and new flight routes being introduced, the airport is set to enhance connectivity and passenger experience for travelers from central India.

Infrastructure Enhancements Enable 24/7 Operations

The airport is expected to become operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week by the end of March. This milestone follows the completion of runway recarpeting and the renovation of the old terminal building. Previously, maintenance activities restricted night operations, closing the runway for nearly eight hours each night. The elimination of these restrictions will allow for a substantial increase in flight frequency starting in April.

The renovation of the old terminal is in its final stages. Once operational, this facility will primarily handle ATR aircraft, which are smaller regional planes. This move is designed to reduce congestion at the main terminal, streamlining operations and improving efficiency for both airlines and passengers.

New Flight Routes to Boost Summer Travel Options

Airlines are actively expanding their services from Indore, offering travelers more choices for their summer holidays. Fly91 is preparing to launch new connections, including:

  • Indore to Jalgaon
  • Indore to Hyderabad

Additionally, the airline has applied to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for approval to operate a direct Indore-Goa flight, with plans to commence this service in May.

Starting March 30, Star Air will reintroduce flights connecting Indore with Belagavi and Kolhapur. These routes will operate via Mumbai, allowing passengers to complete their journey without changing aircraft. The flights are scheduled to run three days a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Star Air previously operated the Belagavi route in 2019 and is now leveraging its Mumbai-bound flights to offer these enhanced connections to Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Airport Authorities Express Optimism for Summer Season

Ramswarup Yadav, the Public Relations Officer for Indore airport, highlighted the positive impact of these developments. "With the runway expected to be available 24 hours from April, we are seeing significant interest from airlines to launch new services," he said. Yadav added that the combination of improved infrastructure and increased flight options would provide a seamless and enhanced experience for summer travelers.

The expansion efforts come at a crucial time, as the airport aims to capitalize on the summer travel surge. By offering more destinations and round-the-clock operations, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport is positioning itself as a key hub for regional connectivity in central India.
