Kashmir-Delhi Cargo Train Service Set to Launch on April 17
The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has officially announced the commencement of a new Joint Parcel Product–Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS) train, connecting New Delhi's Adarsh Nagar with Budgam in central Kashmir. This innovative service is scheduled to begin operations on April 17, with a primary focus on bolstering economic activities for traders in the Kashmir Valley, particularly benefiting fruit growers and handicrafts merchants.
Trial Phase and Potential for Regular Service
Initially, the cargo train will operate on a trial basis until May 31. During this period, authorities will closely monitor demand and occupancy levels to assess its viability. The service features eight parcel vans and is designed to significantly reduce transit time to approximately 23–24 hours.
