Mizoram Buyer-Seller Meet 2025 Boosts Organic Farm Trade
Mizoram Hosts 2025 Buyer-Seller Meet for Organic Farmers

The Mizoram Agricultural Marketing Board (MAMB) has taken a significant step to bridge the gap between local farmers and national markets. In a collaborative effort with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Mission Organic Mizoram, the board successfully organized the 'Mizoram Buyer-Seller Meet 2025' at the Aijal Club in Aizawl.

Minister Inaugurates Key Agricultural Event

The event was formally inaugurated by the state's Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, PC Vanlalruata, on Friday. In his inaugural address, the minister outlined the core mission of the MAMB, which is to accelerate farmer development and substantially improve their livelihoods. He pointed to the growing national demand for specific Mizoram produce as a sign of progress.

Ginger, turmeric, bird's eye chillies, and broomsticks from the state are now finding shelves across the country, he noted. Vanlalruata emphasized that the cornerstone of successful marketing is building trust and securing reliable buyers. He stated that this meet was strategically organized to create these essential linkages, directly connecting producers with potential purchasers.

Rail Connectivity and Quality Focus to Drive Growth

The minister highlighted a major infrastructural advantage for the state's trade ambitions: Aizawl's newly established rail connectivity. This development is expected to significantly boost inter-state trade by easing logistics. To leverage this and compete effectively with other states, Vanlalruata urged the farming community to focus on producing fresher, cleaner, and more visually appealing crops.

He provided a concrete example of state support, revealing that under the Bana Kaih Scheme, over Rs 137 crore has been invested in ginger procurement. This substantial investment underscores the government's commitment to supporting key agricultural products. The minister expressed strong confidence that Mizoram's organically grown, chemical-free ginger would continue to attract more buyers due to its superior quality and sustainable cultivation practices.

Forging a Sustainable Future for Mizoram's Farmers

The Mizoram Buyer-Seller Meet 2025 represents a proactive move to translate the state's organic farming potential into tangible economic benefits. By fostering direct relationships between growers and buyers, the event aims to create a more stable and profitable market environment. The combination of government schemes like Bana Kaih, improved infrastructure via rail links, and a dedicated focus on organic quality positions Mizoram's agricultural sector for robust growth. The initiative is seen as a critical step towards ensuring that the hard work of local farmers results in better income and sustainable development for the region.
