Daytime Rail Block on Mumbai's Western Railway to Benefit Commuters
In a move aimed at providing relief to daily commuters, the Western Railway (WR) has announced a daytime rail block over its suburban section in Mumbai today. This strategic scheduling shift comes after the railway authority conducted essential maintenance work during the early morning hours on Sunday, specifically between 1 am and 4.30 am, on the Up and Down slow lines between Mahim and Santacruz stations.
Maintenance Work and Operational Adjustments
The maintenance block was implemented to carry out crucial tasks, including the upkeep of tracks, signalling systems, and overhead equipment. During this period, all Down slow line trains were rerouted to operate on the Down fast line between Mumbai Central and Santacruz stations. However, due to platform length constraints at certain stations, these trains will make double halts at Lower Parel, Mahim, and Khar Road stations.
Conversely, trains will not stop at Mahalaxmi, Prabhadevi, and Matunga Road stations because these locations lack adequate platform facilities to accommodate the rerouted services. Additionally, some suburban train services have been cancelled for the duration of the block to ensure smooth operations and safety.
