Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Thursday that the recently finalized India-European Union free trade agreement presents a significant opportunity for Indian manufacturers to not only increase their revenue but also to build strong international relationships and enhance the global reputation of both their companies and the nation.
A Strategic Phase for National Development
Speaking to reporters on the second day of the Budget Session of Parliament, PM Modi outlined that the beginning of the second quarter of the 21st century marks a crucial period for India's journey toward becoming a developed nation. He stressed that this era should focus on collaborative solutions rather than obstructive practices.
"The FTA between India and the European Union demonstrates the promising future awaiting India's youth," PM Modi stated. "This agreement represents free trade for an ambitious Bharat, aspirational youth, and an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Manufacturers must leverage this opportunity to expand their capabilities."
Quality and Brand Building as Key Priorities
PM Modi elaborated that with the landmark deal with the EU, a vast market comprising 27 countries has now opened for Indian businesses. He urged manufacturers to prioritize quality and enter these markets with superior products.
"This is not merely about earning money; it is about winning the hearts of people across the European Union," he remarked. "By delivering excellence, our companies and the country itself can become powerful brands on the global stage."
The Prime Minister further noted that a confident India is currently viewed as a beacon of hope and a center of attraction worldwide. While acknowledging that analysis and commentary on government actions are natural, he asserted that there is widespread recognition of this administration's commitment to ensuring last-mile delivery of services and policies.
Appeal for Constructive Parliamentary Engagement
PM Modi appealed to all Members of Parliament to play a constructive role in accelerating the nation's progress. He highlighted that the world holds high expectations for Bharat's democracy and demographic potential.
"The current trajectory of the country demands solutions, not obstructions," he emphasized. "I urge all MPs to come forward and contribute to speeding up the solutions that India urgently requires."
Recognition for Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
In his address, PM Modi also commended Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her historic achievement of becoming the first woman minister to present her ninth consecutive Budget. He described this milestone as particularly significant as India enters a vital phase toward achieving developed nation status by 2047.
"One-fourth of the 21st century has concluded," PM Modi observed. "For India to realize its vision of becoming developed by 2047, a critically important phase is now commencing. This budget will be the first of the century's second quarter, and Nirmala ji will create history by presenting her ninth budget."
He added that the nation naturally anticipates the budget with great expectation, noting that the government's image is firmly rooted in reform, performance, and transformation. "We have boarded the Reform Express, and I appeal to all MPs to endeavor to give it greater momentum," he stated.
Balancing Technological Advancement with Human Sensitivity
PM Modi affirmed that while India will continue to embrace technological advancements in its development journey, the nation will remain sensitive to human needs and focus on people-centric approaches. He referenced the President's address from the previous day, describing it as a reflection of the collective efforts of 140 crore Indians and a symbol of youth aspirations.
"I believe all Members of Parliament have taken the President's words seriously," PM Modi concluded, reinforcing the importance of unified action in Parliament to address the country's challenges and opportunities during this transformative period.
